Restoring Balance

The Background

Jim and Jane are in the process of a divorce. Jane is an accountant by trade, and her husband is a business executive earning a high salary. She wants help planning for the future to ensure that she can continue to support her lifestyle.

The Issue

The couple has a complex array of shared assets, including joint banking, investment and retirement accounts, as well as life insurance policies and two shared properties. Jane is worried that although these assets are shared, her husband is in a much better position than she to support himself after the divorce. She believe she has a lengthy, difficult process in front of her.

The Solution

TIER 1
Needs, Wants and Aspirations

Jane is presented with a custom financial plan involving an in-depth analysis of all of her assets, past and projected financial needs, insurance coverage and benefits. Though our CIBC partners, we also help her set up her mortgage and bank accounts, while assessing her credit requirements.

TIER 2
Risk Analysis

To ensure balance in her lifestyle, our proprietary risk analysis platform is used to design a portfolio that she is comfortable with from both financial and psychological perspectives.

TIER 3
Family Wealth Continuity

Our team of wealth specialists collaborates to develop a comprehensive estate plan, which helps simplify Jane's finances.

TIER 4
Strong Decision-Making

After reevaluating all of these details, we outline various scenarios and their outcomes. Once the divorce is finalized, we ensure she is comfortable with her final plan and that the strategies are well-implemented, taking an active role in helping Jane make progress toward her lifestyle objectives.

TIER 5
Protection from Losses

After insurance and taxation reviews, Jane is confident she will be fully protected after the divorce, and will benefit from improved tax-efficiency.
